A New Construction Manager
A NEW CONSTRUCTION MANAGER INSTALLATION
MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST SKILLS
Large installation works involving structural or building has been a growing request by customers. Although Chess Engineering has been undertaking installation projects for years, it has responded to a greater need for extensive project management skills and developed a new role in its team to provide specialist services across installation management for building construction areas. “Our new role adds another dimension to Chess’ total end-to-end services. Our manpower capacity has increased allowing us to undertake installation projects which we know will be managed by a dedicated staff member with construction expertise and experience,” says Steve Facer, Chief Executive Officer, Chess Industries.
Tony Fairclough, Chess’ new construction manager, commenced in September with a primary responsibility to manage all activity relating to the assembly and installation of all Chess manufactured jobs.
With more than 40 years of experience in the building and construction industry, Tony is an asset for Chess’ management team as it continues to service clients in the private and government sectors. “We felt this appointment was integral to the future success of our company as customers prefer to deal with one organisation for the manufacture and installation, and we now have the capability to supply both services making it a smoother transition,” says Steve.
Tony brings a solid building and construction background and has an extensive understanding of the continual statutory changes and compliance issues that impact the industry. Tony is a licenced builder since 1978, a dual supervisor licence holder and member of the Masters Builders’ Association. His previous employment involved management of large scale commercial installation projects to the value of $10 million and high-end residential projects for various building and construction groups.
“I am a perfectionist so customer satisfaction and supplying and installing a high quality product are my main business objectives in the role. My greatest passion is being able to stand beside a designer and draw on my years of practical experience and suggest changes to deliver installation efficiencies that save the customer time and money,” says Tony.
A family man born and bred in the Sutherland Shire, Tony likes to enjoy his off-duty time with his family outdoors surfing, diving, fishing and boating.
Tony is currently managing the installation project for Chess’ large scale milk processing plant job for A2 Milk in Smeaton Grange. He can be contacted on (02) 9772 2355 or t.fairclough@chessindustries.com.au
