Transforming Wastewater
QUALITY DESIGN STANDARDS
We all know that water is a precious resource in limited supply and its use is subject to competition between industrial and municipal consumers every day. Almost 75% of the world is covered in water but only 1% is usable. As a result, industry is looking for cost effective alternatives to recycle and reuse water. And with the regulations governing water treatment tightening all the time, it's critical that any water filtration system is manufactured to the highest quality standards.
Chess Engineering was recently engaged by Pall Australia, a subsidiary of Pall Corporation, a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, to fabricate and assemble an Integrated Microfiltration and Reverse Osmosis (MF/RO) system. The portable MF/RO treatment system is packed into a 40-foot shipping container and uses best-in-class treatment chemicals and hollow fibre membranes to produce consistent, high quality water from wastewater.
From the initial consultation meeting, it was clear that Pall's design and quality standards were above the required Australian ISO9001 accreditation standards. Quality workmanship was critical, and a close relationship with the client was maintained throughout the entire project to ensure their exact design specifications were met. “Our design and workshop teams truly understand the importance of manufacturing to first-class standards and satisfactorily meeting the client's unique design specifications,” says Chris Peal, Key Account Manager, Chess Engineering. “Our years of experience in the water industry and our familiarity with a variety of unique materials such as 316 Stainless Steel, Duplex, PVC and HDPE led to a successful client outcome.”
The MF/RO container was manufactured in Chess's Padstow workshop and then delivered to Pall during November. The client was extremely happy with the quality of the product and the close relationship that was maintained throughout the job by the Chess Project Manager, George Yacoubian.
