Trommels for Dewatering
Trommels
are used in a wide range of screening and separating the
mining and minerals sectors. They can also be seen
in abbattoirs, quarrying, recycling, topsoil preparation and in fact
anywhere where large quantities of materials need separating
or grading.
They are of simple design but highly effective
in operation—consisting of a perforated revolving
drum inside an outer casing. The water and
slurry mixture is pumped into the revolving drum whose
action retains the solids in the slurry and allows the
water to drain into a sump for recovery or disposal. Solids
are moved out of the drum by the action of a raised thread
fitted to the drum’s inner surface.
Chess
can design and build trommels to clients’ exact requirements. They
can be mobile—either fitted to trucks or with their
own undercarriage; have interchangeable screens of
different sizes and be fitted with power sources and control
systems to suit the application.
